Political polarization is crippling America and threatening our democracy. It’s tearing apart families, turning neighbors against each other, and eroding trust in and out of the workplace. We see the harmful effects of severe political polarization all around us and are working to build something better for ourselves, our children and our grandchildren
The Greater Boston Alliance of Braver Angels strives to create the conditions, one conversation at a time, for mutual understanding and working together to meet the challenges our country faces. We aim to build human connections between people who otherwise might never speak to each other.
Braver Angels workshops bring together liberals and conservatives to talk to one another through a series of structured exercises that help reduce preconceptions of the other side and find common values.
There are workshops designed specifically around building skills to help you have difficult political conversations with anyone in your life: family, friends, co-workers included.
Braver Angels debates use resolutions that might be controversial to encourage speeches from both sides. Unlike some of the workshops, these are not associated with Red and Blue, but Pro and Con.
The Braver Angels special parliamentary format encourages everyone to speak or ask questions, insures civility in disagreement, and strives for learning and better understanding for all.
These structured conversations are for different types of people to connect personally and as citizens. Two people have two 1-hour conversations using an online platform. You sign up and are paired with someone who has different experiences and beliefs than you. The goals of these conversations are to understand each other, discover areas of commonality and raise ideas for how we may bridge our differences for the sake of our communities and country.
Braver Angels strives to Reflect America by increasing participation by and understanding of members of key groups within Braver Angels, including People of Color, Conservatives/Libertarians, and Working Class people. To this end, the National Braver Angels organization has formed special groups. Explore the links below to learn more about what these groups do and how to join them.
